Sweet P Weddings + Events {Vendor Spotlight}

Ok here we go y’all!

I recently sat down with all of my favorite wedding vendors to chat about their businesses, why they love weddings, and who they are. The next few months will showcase my {Vendor Spotlights} because I think it’s important that you know who you vendors are, the type of people you’re working with, and how long they’ve been in the wedding industry. I think it helps most Brides feel a little more at ease with trusting the vendors they pick to create a once in a lifetime kind of day.

To help give you an idea of what it will look like, I’ve answered the questions myself this time. Hopefully, it also gives you a little more insight into who I am, and why I do what I do.

Sweet P weddings (SPW): Tell us a little about yourself.

Hey! I’m Perryn (sounds like Karen, but with a P) and I love weddings. I married the love of my life in 2011 and have three beautiful kiddos. Most of my time is spent either at weddings or with them. I love being at the beach, out on the water, or working in the yard. I’ve traveled to over 30 countries, I might be one of the only people on the planet that does NOT watch Game of Thrones.

SPW: How long have you been in the wedding industry?

I started working with another professional wedding planner in 2013 as her assistant— Still love and admire Sara Gillianne Weddings + Events! I soaked up every minute of it and really became her right hand. Eventually, I started to take on weddings of my own to plan, and I’ve never looked back since. I officially started my own business in 2018.

SPW: Tell us a little about your business.

I am a very boutique business, specializing in Month-of Planning. I always have at least one assistant with me on every wedding day. I strive for honest, open communication throughout the planning process. and I also do my best to maintain a healthy work/life balance. I want my business to be about finding my perfect clients, the ones who get me and I them. I’m not just out to book a million weddings in a year and rake in as much cash as I can. I would love to have a meaningful friendship with each Bride at the end of each wedding day.

SPW:  Tell us about the funniest moment that you have ever witnessed at a wedding.

I usually catch wind if there will be a surprise dance of some sort… The dad and Bride practice a little in a hidden spot, or the Bridesmaids are too excited not to share… But this particular wedding I had NO idea. I helped get the Bridal party lined up, and everyone made it through the introductions into the Venue. As planned, the Bride and Groom went right into their first dance. I can’t remember the exact song, but something very slow and traditional, probably Frank Sinatra or something like that. All of the sudden- the music scratches and they bust out a hysterical dance to “Baby Got Back” !!! I could not stop laughing. The entire reception was filled with hysterical laughter and cheers. Needless to say, I am still good friends with this Bride.

SPW:  What do you love most about weddings?

Gahhh- How can I narrow this down!??! I really truly love SO much about weddings. But i think I have to say that I really love the commitment and the bond you can feel between the Bride and Groom on a wedding day. It seems like it’s a rare thing to find, in the world today, the type of intense commitment we make on our wedding day. And while some may not really understand, or give it much thought, I think most couples do. You can see the intense interaction between them when they say their vows, it always gives me goosebumps, and it always makes me choke up.

SPW: What is the most unique attribute of your business?

I may have said a little of this earlier, but I really truly believe that you need to connect with your wedding planner, more so than other vendors. We will end up spending A LOT of time together, through emails, phone calls, text messages, and of course on the actual wedding day. It makes a WORLD of difference when both of us feel comfortable and have a strong trust to rely on. I know it sounds crazy, but I encourage all of my potential Brides that I meet with to go meet with other planners as well. Get a good sense of the personality and the person behind the website before you book them- trust me- no vendor will be mad at you for it, and it can only help!

SPW: What is your busiest month?

It varies by the year but this year it is October

SP: What is one thing you wish your brides knew about you?

At every wedding, I do my best to go above and beyond what we discuss in my contract…. But my goal is that you will never know about it. I have a list of the usual things I do on a wedding day, mainly to give you an idea of what you’re paying for (haha and to convince the Dad of the necessity) but that list is really just a starting point. It varies with every wedding- there is usually something that I need to fix, correct, or gently guide back into place, but unless its unavoidable, I’d rather have you completely unaware and just enjoying the day. I do my best to take all the stress of the day off of you and absorb it myself.
